Rationale
One, the world can be a very confusing place. There is too much information and too many things in our queue. The things which are important, which we need to understand are often filled with jargon and, therefore, set aside.
Two, we need people who can help us understand things better. Ideas need to be simplified and distilled.
Three, large volumes of text and video are taking up all of our time. A “sense making organization” or business is necessary. The market for this is unimaginable in size and scope.
Four, there appears to be an untapped area of potential in creatives, deep thinkers, analysts, futurists, technologists, philosophers and knowledge workers.
Yet, we have a business or economic system that was never established for the kind of complexity we live in now. This system is also not able to fully utilize the abilities that some possess.
Therefore, we need to discuss a “metamodern business model.”
There is potential to use such a model where a group of “knowledge workers” provide a service which helps us to understand things better.
This next part might, at first, seem unrelated. It’s not. It just means that we seek to do something to bring opportunities to a democratic nation under attack — a nation that wishes to assert its freedom and demonstrate its potential — Ukraine.
Ukraine is situated in the middle ground between authoritarianism and democratic freedoms. While Russia lives in its past and is nostalgic for empire, Ukraine represents the future, ideas and global collaboration. Our project, therefore, would seek to employ displaced Ukrainian workers and a global talent pool of knowledge workers, creatives, technologists, communicators, journalists and future thinkers. We would provide knowledge work for the masses. We would seek to use new methods — creative combinations of imagery, infographics, explainer videos, sound and a more common language of understanding to communicate messages.
For money.
Why? Because our group believes that knowledge work is real, valuable to society and worthy of compensation. Knowledge work is “intellectual capital.”
We call this a “Metamodern Business model.”
