Alternative to Craigslist

I started looking for an alternative to Craigslist last week and found Google Base. I'm interested to know from anyone who stumbles on this post if they've had any luck with this.

I would definitely recommend checking out the site www.DormItem.com . Its one of the only legit alternatives to craigslist I have found. Unfortunately the website is geared toward a College or University campus population. Nonetheless the site has a lot of potential. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Another cool alternative to craiglist is http://www.blurbpage.com

Its slowly but surely building a solid user base and it has tons of potential.

those sites are just copies and do not have many visitors. They look nice and that is what they are. I wasted 20 mins checking them out. I hope I can save someon some time if they read this comment.

A Brand New (Launched 10/1/08) Alternative to Craigslist in the Midwest is http://MidwestAds.Net

No Adult Content, No Dating. Just Buying, Selling and Events...

I am in the process of using Google Base, but for traffic purposes it is not as good as Craigslist. My items have been on Google Base for over 2 weeks and have received scant attention. I get more interest in one day from Craigslist.
I am also seeking a viable alternative to Craigslist, since I am extremely unhappy with the way the site is handled.
I would really like to meet, in person, these so-called "help" people who think that they know what's best for everyone else, and hide behind their monitors to spew their wise-***ed comments.
If anyone knows of a REAL alternative to Craigslist, please let me know.(eddie@deadbeedistributors.com)
Thanks and good luck to all!

I have not used that site yet or most of the others. I do appreciate this thread because you gave me exactly what I just googled for, alternatives to Craigslist. I will be sure to bookmark this to let you know how well these sites have done for me.

I run a new Startup called MidwestAds.Net. It is similar to Craigslist, but contains no Adult content, No Dating Ads, and has a Place where Churches can list their service times and directions, etc. Very Family Friendly.

It includes all the basic listings- Free Stuff/ Employment/Community Events/Real Estate/Autos/Etc.

It is launched to serve Missouri and surrounding states, with plans to expand later.

Thanks
Brent

If you are looking to barter your services for another, here is the best site you can find online

www.favorpals.org

it's free with no ads or hidden stuff, just exchange your services with other people that want to exchange, they are building a world without money

I found this site. It's new and setup for those that enjoyed Rants & Raves and the politics board. It's easy to register and there's no phone identification. You can add movies and audio to add a little extra to your rant or rave. Definitely not for all audiences but may be fun for some.

We just launched a new website at http://www.classifiedsbyzip.com that also offers free ads like Craigslist, but differs in three major ways. First, instead of searching by the closest major city, you can search by a given mile radius of a ZIP code. Second, your basic ad is free, but if you want to add some features, such as to make it stand out over other ads, or make the duration of the ad last longer, you can do so for a small fee. And last, there is no flagging, so competitors or those who have nothing better to do than to flag other people’s ads can’t. We do however remove ads we find inappropriate.

I also just created an alternative to Craigslist: http://momingle.com Think of craigslist on a map. Each category has its own icon. you can search by typing your address or zipcode. Users can reply directly through the website. Check it out and see if you like it.

A new website called Koowie.com just came out. It claims to be an anti-facebook and a craigslist alternative. Basically you post whatever is in your mind, thoughts, and let others browse your thoughts or search for it. I just signed up a few weeks ago and so far everything is free. You don;t have to use your email either so you will never get spammed.
